Frequently Asked Questions > E-Commerce FAQ IS IT WORTHWHILE TO PURSUE ECOMMERCE IN MALAYSIA? We believe there are opportunies for e-commerce in Malaysia in many different sectors. Of course targeting a global market (especially USA) would have wider appeal, however there are many niche opportunities in Malaysia where you can have a competitive advantage against more experienced e-commerce entrepreneurs outside Malaysia. CAN I USE TEMPLATES FOR E-COMMERCE PROJECTS? I WANT TO ACCEPT VISA & MASTER ON MY WEBSITE, BUT WANT TO KEEP MY COST MINIMAL. Yes absolutely. Most simple e-commerce projects can take advantage of our pre-designed templates and focus on the marketing aspects which will drive sales and profits. WE HAVE A WEBSITE AND WEB HOSTING ALREADY. CAN WE GET YOU TO SETUP A PAYMENT GATEWAY ONLY? Yes, we can assist you with setup of Payment Gateway. We can help with setup in 2checkout.com, Paypal and Commerce Payment. Setup cost is around RM1,000 for up to 20 products inclusive of application fees. Depending on your objectives, you may not need to purchase an SSL Certificate because all payments go through the secure gateway. Please note that this price is not inclusive of web design. If you need web design, then our various package prices apply. I WISH TO DEVELOP A WEBSITE WITH A SHOPPING CART AND ADMIN AREA. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE? The cost will depend on the complexity of the programming. The admin area can be quite complex, but let's say for a basic e-commerce system, cost would be around RM6k. Another alternative is to go for OScommerce, the software is free, but you need to spend some time to configure it. Our Linux web hosting package comes with OScommerce built in, takes less than 10 minutes to install, but you still need to spend time to configure and key in your products. Bronze web hosting is only RM200/year. I'M LOOKING TO DESIGN AND DEVELOP AN E-COMMERCE WEBSITE. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RISKS OF ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS ON MY WEBSITE? If you accept credit card payments on your website via 2checkout.com (2co), then 2co does a fraud check for every transaction and either passes or fails the order within 48 hours. If the transaction is passed, you can usually proceed to process and deliver on the order if the order appears legitimate. Please note however that the credit card holder can always issue a bank-assisted dispute and demand a refund, and it will be up to you to settle the matter with the customer directly, for example if your product does not meet the customer's quality expectations. If the bank-assisted dispute is due to the fraudulent use of a credit card, then most likely you will face a charge back from 2co on the transaction. Bank assisted disputes are a risk when credit cards are accepted, just like accepting credit cards in a restaurant or shop. Typically a cardholder has up to 120-180 days to dispute a charge for any reason, and it is difficult for any payment gateway provider to control this risk or assure you of 100% protection. The chargeback regulations are usually stipulated by the issuing bank, and challenging a chargeback requires proof and following certain procedures laid down. Sometimes a cardholder challenges a charge because they do not recognize the charge. If this is a legitimate order/customer, then you can usually resolve this matter by offering proof of delivery and a reminder to the customer of what was purchased and the purchase date. It is important to note that as the vendor, it is ultimately your decision on whether to fulfill an order or not. If you receive an order you think is not good, you can also choose to cancel and refund on the order. HOW DOES PAYPAL HANDLE CREDIT CARD CHARGEBACKSs? When PayPal receives a chargeback notice from the credit card issuing company, it will place the chargeback funds on temporary hold in the Seller’s PayPal account, and the Seller will receive an email requesting for further information if he or she wishes to dispute the chargeback. Paypal will work with the Seller and credit card company to resolve the dispute based on the information provided and this may take 75 – 100 days. If the credit card company decides in your favour, PayPal will then release the chargeback funds into your account.
