If you are a local business and currently marketing on the Internet you should be very excited about e-commerce.
Your customers are increasingly turning to the Internet to find businesses like yours.
Last year in the US, it is estimated that more than 70% of households use the Internet as a source when shopping locally.
What is more astounding is that more than 40% of local searches had a buying intent.
With the growth of internet usage and broadband subscribers in Malaysia, I believe we are also riding a similar wave.
The question is – when a prospect searches for your type of business on the Internet will they find YOU? or will they find your competitor?
And if they find you, will you have an Internet marketing system in place that converts them into a profitable customer?
Sarawak-based MerkWorld provides Customer Relationship Management solutions to large corporates in East Malaysia.
Like many (but not all) of our outstation projects, we were fortunate enough that our client was able to travel to Kuala Lumpur for project discussions. Thanks Ron and Jon for your untiring briefings all the way from Sarawak to KL :)
This was a relatively simple website and in addition involved RSS feed integration, while a mini survey was developed for members who are signed up by our client.

Having been around for 6 years now, you might ask, what is our first web design project?
It was a relatively small and simple website but what a fantastic experience it was! It was none other than www.worldteach.com.my.
WorldTeach is a Christian ministry providing seminars, books and life-changing teaching in the Christian walk. Working with Mr Eric Tan, National Director of the WorldTeach ministry in Malaysia, we came up with a website which enabled the ministry to showcase their books and seminar series.
Thank you Eric for this wonderful opportunity to kick off our business!
Last year during 2006, WorldTeach decided to revamp to a new look which was designed by one of their team members Skye Tan. We helped them to develop a PHP framework for coding the website and with a little bit of training, Skye was able to complete most of the website by herself!
Great work Skye!
Our first client continues to be our valued client today. We are grateful for the many years of association with WorldTeach Malaysia, and hopefully the many more that are yet to come!
For ease of updating, we have decided to migrate our Portfolio Gallery to this Wordpress-based system.
Our old Web Design Portfolio can still be viewed at http://www.netallianz.com/portfolio.php or by clicking Portfolio Archive in the left menu.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Wordpress, it is actually a Blog system that can easily double up as a powerful Content Management System. If you are in the market for a new website or CMS, we would love to show you what Wordpress is capable of ![]()
Most of us know that it is important to get other websites to link to us. When designing your website, consider employing a linking strategy to increase your website value and boost your search engine rankings. There are basically 4 types of linking strategies that you can employ:
Reciprocal Linking
Website 1 links to Website 2, and Website 2 links back to Website 1.
One-Way Linking
Website 1 links to Website 2.
Triangular Linking
Website 1 links to Website 2, Website 2 links to Site 3, Website 3 links back to Website 1. This linking technique involves 3 or more websites.
Directory Linking
Getting your website listed in directories, eg. Exactseek and Searchsight

We are often told that 90%+ of all Internet searches are performed in the 3 major search engines, namely Google, Yahoo and MSN.
In addition to these 3 major engines, there are literally thousands of other smaller search engines. If you surf the web often enough, you’ve probably seen many ads which look like this: “Submit your website to XXX,XXX search engines…” where XXX,XXX is a ridiculously large number.
Just think of all those power brands like Coca Cola, McDonalds or Nike. Likewise, your Internet domain name is also your brand. In the Internet, power brands include Yahoo, Google, Amazon and eBay all of which generate huge traffic and revenue.
The first step towards e-commerce is selecting the name of your website. Your domain name tells people who you are and how to find you on the Internet. And because no two parties can have the same web address, your online identity is totally unique. Read more »
